How can I draw agro better?
I recently started a w/mo, having finished the game with my monk (every mission+bonus, every quest, all of it). I mostly solo without henches, but when I do group I have trouble getting/holding the agro. I do what I can, bringing some smite, a few defensive skills, cyclone axe, but always find that others get the initial agro or take it from me.
So what can I do to grab that agro fast and hold onto it? Have I just had some bad pugs (several casters are right up next to me the whole time)? Even with bad pugs, what can be done to try to obtain the agro?

You need to be the only one in the mobs aggro circle for a few seconds...let the mobs focus on you before the back lines start attacking. For instance, when I go out with henchies, I will attack with my longbow (as a mesmer or necro) and let Stephan and Thom rush in, then back up a little so the others wont attack immediately. Stephan and Thom will back off for a sec also, so hit space again to engage the team. You might have to back up again, but the meat shields should be in combat by then. Make sure they mobs don't move past them and then start attacking.
Trolls don't adhere to this strategy very well, they like to go for the tender meat.

For many people seems really hard to understand the aggro circle function.
Usually it's not the warrior's fault if enemies go for soft targets.
The warrior only have to go in their aggro circle, so they stay focused on him. Spells range is just enough to let the enemies out of the bubble.
I really hate when a dumb ele enter the aggro circle, the enemies spot him, go for him, then spot another soft target and mess up everything.

Ways to get aggro:
- Be the only target
- Hurt them enough to get their attention
- Block them enough that they decide to hit you
- Get a death penalty (yup, purposefully die at the beginning, keep your DP lower than the party's)
- Carry an object (crystal, Vizier's Staff, Icon thingy of slowing...)
- Have no weapon equipped (from what I hear this is like having an object, haven't tested it) and switch to your weapon once you have aggro.

if you want to try agroing people in tombs you need a whole new approach which is beyond the scope of this forum.

Thanks for the tips. I appreciate the help, I'll try to apply those and start yelling at my groups to stay back more. Only level 14 right now, so it's not all that difficult for monks to overcome the shared agro, but hopefully I can get the process down before the more difficult areas.
PvE warrior is quite a bit different from a pvp warrior.

use a snare
when snared, most enemies would prefer to stay on you cause you're closer, than going to easy meat.
Snares would be anything that slows em down. Cripple, traps, frozen burst etc.
frozen burst - pricey at 15 energy, but it hits everything around you. Before you think oh watermagic! EW! while not the most damaging, it's great for defence. blurred vision, ward against harm etc, plus you get a conjure.

Yeah its pretty hard to aggro those damn trappers.
Anyone remember when all ranger groups with long/storm bows could kill enemies in PvE, and never draw aggro? The monsters never got into the bubble =P
